Monthly Updates
Meeting with the Bishop: Fr. Adam and Rob Spicer met with Bishop Thomas on March 26 to present Chesterton Academy. Bishop Thomas expressed his enthusiasm and support for our efforts thus far. He will be meeting with his team in the coming days to discuss our proposal in more detail and to make his decision as to whether we can move forward with Chesterton Academy.
2026 Parent Initiative: We are happy to report that a sufficient number of families made a commitment to the 2026 launch date. Pending the Bishop's blessing and approval, Fr. Adam and the board are prepared to move forward with that earlier-than-expected date.
Friday Food & Fellowship Events: Fr. Adam, Gavin Coutinho and Rob Spicer will continue to meet with current 7th & 8th graders who have potential interest in attending the Chesterton Academy. Due to scheduling conflicts, the next gathering will take place on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 AM. We will be holding a celebration that day for the Resurrection of Our Lord and, hopefully, a positive decision from the Bishop.
Chesterton Academy of Orlando Site Visit: Several board members and a current SMS teacher will be traveling to visit the Chesterton Academy of Orlando in April to learn about their school. During their visit, our team will be able to meet with the school’s headmaster, sit in on classes, and interact with students to gain a greater understanding of how a Chesterton Academy operates. Please pray for their travels.
