Welcome to the Team Mr. Jason Klicker

Background:

My name is Jason Klicker and I am a graduate from Hillsdale College in 2016 where I received an education in History and Classical Education. Immediately upon graduation, I received a job offer from a classical school in Arizona where I have been ever since. I look forward to rediscovering this wonderful thing called 'snow' I have heard so much about and enjoying summers that don't exceed 120 degrees!

As a teacher, I have taught 11th Grade English, 11th Grade Traditional United States History, 11th Grade Advanced Placement United States History, 12th Grade Traditional Government & Economics, as well as Grades 9-12 Speech and Debate. I have ten years of teaching experience, all of it in a classical school setting. I have a passion for knowledge, and I absolutely love every moment where I see a lightbulb go off over someone’s head. It is a remarkable experience, and I hope to share it with you too!

In addition to teaching, I have also served as a Classical Education Coach so that not only can I instruct students in the beauty of a classical education, but also their teachers as well. I look forward to helping our school be the best version of ourselves as we strive to Seek Justice, Love Mercy, and Walk Humbly with the Lord our God.

Three years ago, I joined the Catholic Church after wrestling with the ideas that a devout coworker introduced to me and I eventually proved St. John Henry Newman's words to be correct: "To be steeped in History is to cease to be Protestant". I am overjoyed that I have the privilege of applying my knowledge of classical education in a Catholic setting, and look forward to not only teaching my students about the beauty of knowledge, but also its ultimate source in Our Lord.

Educational Philosophy:

Classical education is not the art of teaching someone WHAT to think, but teaching them HOW to think. We are the beneficiaries of a long and storied history of individuals who have wrestled with the great questions in an effort to develop a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them. We see as far as we do because we stand on the shoulders of these great men and women, and it is our solemn duty to ensure our own shoulders are broad and stable so that future generations see further than we do.

By teaching children the concepts of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, we allow them to fulfill the ultimate goal of all education: to know and love God on a deeper level.

Favorite Quote:

“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”

― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man
