Welcome to the Team, Mr. Daniel Gosser
Background:
My name is Daniel Gosser. I graduated from The University of Toledo in 2010 with a B.S. in AYA Integrated Science Education and a minor in Chemistry. I moved to Findlay shortly where I accepted my first teaching position at Findlay High School, where I have been working for the past 16 years. I continued my education by earning a Master’s Degree in Education Technology through Bowling Green State University in 2013 and a second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Chemistry Education in 2017.
I have taught a wide variety of science classes and students in grades 9-12, including Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy, and Physics. I have also partnered with the University of Findlay’s College Credit Plus program to offer CCP Chemistry for the last 6 years.
I am a cradle Catholic and have been a parishioner of St. Michael’s ever since I moved here in 2010. I originally attended Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, OH before heading off to college, and was active in the Catholic Student Association at Corpus Christi University Parish in Toledo, OH. My faith is the center of my life, and my purpose in this universe is centered on our Lord. I take my parental responsibilities of raising my children in the faith very seriously, and I plan to support your children’s faith formation as well through my new position. My family and I regularly sit in the front row, so feel free to stop by after Mass and say hello!
Educational Philosophy:
I love science (especially Chemistry), working with children, and continually learning new things. Teaching is a great fit for me, and I exude passion and enthusiasm to my students in a way that draws them in and helps them discover the wonder of God’s ordered world for themselves. His truth, beauty and goodness are on display everywhere and are so easy to discover in the natural world!
I look forward to bringing intellectual rigor in the math and sciences to the Chesterton Academy. Because math and science naturally work hand-in-hand with each other, the integrated curriculum will cause learning in both areas to benefit greatly.
I promise I will challenge students to reach their highest potential. As an AP Chemistry teacher for the past 12 years, my students have always beaten both the national and state test averages, and typically score almost a full point higher than their peers (on a 5 point scale). I also have helped hundreds of students earn college credit while still in high school by teaching a College Credit Plus Chemistry course through the University of Findlay for the past 6 years. I am happy to continue to find ways to help students earn college credit while attending the Chesterton Academy.
